AUTISM SPECTRUM ASSESSMENT

Our approach at Harbour Therapy

At Harbour Therapy, our neuropsychologists provide assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adults, designed to provide an accurate understanding of each individual’s situation and practical recommendations for intervention. Whether you are seeking answers for yourself or a loved one, our goal is to provide an assessment process that is respectful, thorough, and supportive. We believe an assessment should be:

  Respectful and collaborative

Assessment Process at Our Clinic

  1 - INITIAL INTAKE

You fill a brief intake form on this page to help us understand your concerns, history, and goals for the assessment and a brief consultation may be scheduled to determine whether an autism assessment is appropriate and to answer any initial questions you might have.

  2 - COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENTS

The formal (virtual or in person) assessment typically includes:

A detailed clinical interview

(developmental, academic, work, and mental health history)

Standardized autism questionnaires

(anxiety, depression, etc. )

Screening for other factors that may impact attention

Optional: interview with parents or loved one.

  3 - DIAGNOSTIC FORMULATION & WRITTEN REPORT

Following the assessment, the clinician integrates all information gathered and makes a formal diagnostic (in French or English). The report includes:

  • Diagnostic impressions

  • A clear explanation of findings

  • Personalized recommendations for school, work, therapy, or daily life

  • If requested, documentation suitable for accommodations or medical provider

A feedback session follows afterwards, during which the therapist and client review the results together, address any questions, and discuss recommendations and next steps.
