Qualifications:

Dr. Stolow completed his doctorate in clinical psychology (PhD) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He is a registered psychologist with l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ).

 

Dr. Stolow has worked at the Douglas Mental Health Institute, the Jewish General Hospital, and in Montreal-based private clinics.

Approach:

Dr. Stolow prioritizes a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic environment. He draws upon the strengths of several evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Humanistic/Existential Therapy and Mindfulness. By focussing as much on the development of personal strengths as on the alleviation of distress, Dr. Stolow assists his clients to access their own inner capacity to heal and grow. He emphasizes the acquisition of skills that can be used outside sessions to maintain gains and reduce vulnerability in the long term.
